Worker Dead, Construction Halted on Vikings New Stadium

The lead contractor for the new Vikings stadium is investigating the death of one worker during the last week of August. So reports the Twin Cities Pioneer Press.

Another employee was also seriously injured. The two men were working for Berwald Roofing on the morning of the incidents at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. The worker who died had fallen about 50 feet from the edge of the roof into a snow gutter. The other man was injured on the roof but did not fall. The roofing company has received numerous citations over the past few years and this incident resulted in six citations for failure to provide fall protection. The lead contractor on the project, Mortensen Construction, was not cited.
