Missouri’s Pols, Trade Leaders Talk Worker Shortage

Government officials, contractors and local leaders met to discuss the construction worker shortage plaguing Missouri. So reports KY3.

A recent work study from the Associated General Contractors showed 80% of contractors in the state had difficulty finding workers to fill jobs. The shortage has been attributed to young people gravitating toward white collar jobs and workers failing to return to the industry after leaving during the recession.

The construction industry is responsible for more than $11 billion in economic activity in Missouri.
