The Batmobile of Buildings Comes to NYC’s Hudson Yards

It cost $425 million dollars and will be one of the most innovative building components in the country.

It’s The Shed, a 170-200,000 square foot retractable canopy mounted on rails that allow the structure to become an multi-functional performance and arts space. Dubbed the “Batmobile of Buildings” by The Real Deal, the steel-and-glass Shed will be part of a $20 billion development project at Hudson Yards that will open during Fashion Week 2019.

The retractable canopy will open and close, converting from open-air space to indoor venue within 15 minutes.
