When it comes to hiring, we tend to look at what we need to fill a position and overlook who we need in that position. That's according to Foundation Software.

A “people-focused” approach to hiring recognizes that the organization’s most important need is the right person, not just the most skilled person. Many people who sit before you in the interview process will have exceptional skills to perform the tasks of a job.

Go beyond that to consider skills and personal attributes a person needs not just to ‘do the job’ but to excel at it: character, cultural fit, attitude, motivation and passion for the role.
