Hawaii Landfill Filling Fast on Back of Construction Boom

Oahu’s building boom is rapidly causing the island's only construction-designated landfill to fill up with debris. So reports Hawaii News Now.

The PVT Integrated Solid Waste Management Facility reportedly recycles or reuses nearly 80% of the materials it takes in, with the remainder being put into the landfill. According to the article, the landfill has a 10-year lifespan and is filling faster than initially anticipated. Much of the construction is being driven by military facility upgrades.
