Amid Drought, California City Pushes Million Dollar Water Park

Construction is underway on the $36 million Emerald Glen Aquatic Center in the midst of a historic drought in Dublin, CA, a city just outside of San Francisco. So reports the Contra Costa Times.

City officials say the 480,000 gallons needed to fill the park’s pools is not substantial when compared with the 9.4 million gallons that area businesses and residents use each day. They also say delaying construction would inevitably increase the cost of building it later. In addition, they say they could be sued if they renege on signed construction contracts.
