World Cup Stadium Construction Concerns Prompt Outside Safety Check

Russia may be hosting the next World Cup, the biggest event in professional soccer, but the International Labour Organization and FIFA have concerns for worker health and safety during the build of the stadium. That's according to Global Construction.

To prevent accidents and ensure construction companies are compliant with legislation and other requirements, a construction monitoring system was launched in early April 2016.

The construction of the stadium brings together international workers and a number of construction companies and other organizations, all of which have to collaborate on fixed timelines. The aim of the third-party monitoring system is to prevent accidents and create decent working conditions for crews. It also is meant to provide a means to address any non-compliance issues that may arise. The FIFA World Cup will be played in Moscow in 2018.
