NYC Bill Would Require Construction Workers to Complete 40 Hours of Safety Training

Preventable deaths on a job site is the focus of new legislation proposed by NYC Councilman Jumaane Williams. So reports The New York Daily News.

In response to the rising number of preventable deaths on building sites, the legislation requires every construction worker on a jobsite bigger than a three-family home to receive a minimum of 40 hours of safety training. The bill has overwhelming support in government but is receiving opposition from the real estate industry, despite the fact that safety training standards are lacking for workers.
