Construction Employees Top Users of Cocaine, Prescription Opioids: Study

Construction workers were found to be the most likely to misuse prescription opioids and cocaine compared to employees in other industries, according to a study from the Center for Drug Use and HIV/HCV Research at the New York University College of Global Public Health. So reports USA Today.

The reason, they surmised, is elevated injury and fatality rates stemming from “falls, overexertion and being struck by or caught in heavy machinery.” Further, the study found 12.5% of construction employees used marijuana, compared to 7.5% of all other employees.
