Mock Funeral Draws Attention to Rising Construction Worker Injury, Death Rates

A December rally in New York City had construction workers carrying mock caskets to symbolize the loss of construction workers' lives at worksites throughout the city. So reports The New York Daily News.

There were 18 reported deaths in the last fiscal year at sites in NYC. That's up 12 from the previous period. Most of these deaths involved non-unionized workers. Participants in the rally marched in front of City Hall with a demand for greater accountability for developers and contractors who are responsible for hiring workers.
