After Strong Gains, Housing Starts Dip 8.2% in December

After strong gains in October and November, groundbreakings on new homes dipped 8.2% in December. So reports USA Today.

The decline moved the seasonally adjusted rate to 1.19 million units, with most of the decrease coming from a drop in new single-family home construction. Housing starts in 2017 were up 2.4%. The housing market is being fueled by relatively low unemployment rates and “attractive” mortgage rates.
