Panel Calls for Clearer Regs, More Guidance from OSHA

A panel of industry experts discussing workplace safety suggested to the House Subcommittee on Workforce Protections that the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) act more consistently, make standards easier to read, improve its website and focus more on assistance than punishment. So reports Safety and Health Magazine.

David Michaels, a former OSHA administrator who left in January of last year, said, though, that some employers need more "stick" than "carrot" when it comes to compliance. Scott Mugno, who stands to direct OSHA, has been nominated for the post, but has yet to be confirmed by the Senate.
